Dr Bunhead helps explain the ‘God Particle’
So what is all this fuss about? Watch the interview one of our patients gave last week on ITV’s Scotland Tonight. There are a few introduction adverts, but it’s worth the ‘weight’!

Back to Anatomy School...
Last week the Edinburgh and Glasgow teams joined forces and headed back to school for an afternoon in the Anatomy Department at Edinburgh University.
The team of 15 therapists including physios and massage therapists alike, were taken under the wing of Gordon Findlater, head of the Anatomy School. Gordon is an extensive encyclopaedia of knowledge regarding all things bony, fleshy, muscley and nervy, and gave us a top to toe revision of our anatomy.
The session, lasting around 3 hours, was a fantastic reminder of the structure of the body- the depth and thickness of each muscle, the distribution of the nerves and the relationships between the body’s systems. Seeing anatomy in 3D is the most effective way to learn and remember.
A big thank you to, Gordon Findlater, our Anatomy instructor at the University, for guiding us through the maze we call the human body!

All in a days work….
The Physio Centre has had a busy start to the week with Kirsten, Vicky and Thirza spending Tuesday afternoon at the Parliament as part of Workout at Work Day organised by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

The day was all about advising the MSPs and their staff on being more active throughout the day.

We also assessed their workstations and gave advice on posture.

If you suffer from back, neck or shoulder pain related to work, or you’re worried that you might develop problems in the future, come in for your free drop session. The Physiotherapist will do a quick assessment and give you some advice on ways to improve you symptoms to keep you healthy at work.
Call 0131 556 1116 or email enquiries@edphysio.com to arrange your session. Or for further information see our website www.edphysio.com

Best of the Fest
Circus artists, acrobats, comedians and casts of shows such as Fuerzabruta have all been regular faces in our treatment rooms over Festivals. And this year, we're looking after an exceptional group called Circolombia.
The entertainers of Circolombia are drawn from the very best performers from Colombia's national circus school....but it's more than a Circus- it's heart-stopping acrobatic prowess and high voltage energy.
The show features fourteen male and two female performers aged 17 - 23, world-class acrobats on stage performing with volcanic energy. The show is suitable for all the family and runs daily at 12pm from 4th - 29th August at Assembly Hall. Featured on The One Show, it’s had 4 and 5 star reviews in Scotsman and Edinburgh Spotlight.
So if you want to see a high quality act this year, this one's highly recommended!

Introducing our New Physio
Brendan Meffan (BPhty Cred MDT) is set to begin as our new Physio working from Bannatynes Health Club, Queen Street, and Henderson Row from Monday the 18th of July.
He qualified from Otago University (Dunedin, New Zealand) in 2005 and has worked in private practice since graduation. Brendan is moving up from London to join our Edinburgh clinic and we're looking forward to welcoming him into our fold!
His experience encompasses a broad range of clients; from sports people at a variety of levels, namely rugby and basketball at national level and cricket to international level, to those suffering occupational stresses and strains. Having competed in running events up to ultra-marathon distance, Brendan loves the challenge of treating obsessive runners using a combination of skilful manual ! therapy and in-depth rehabilitation to provide the most effective relief of pain.
His greatest challenge is making sure his patients understand their injuries in order to prevent recurrence and apply self-management techniques in order to keep healthy.
Outside of work, he's looking forward to sampling Edinburgh's diverse cultural scene, peaceful days fly fishing and the social round of golf. Brendan has enjoyed ski seasons in Canada and Japan and looks forward to further exploring the slopes of Europe over the coming years.
We hope to see you soon,
